IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL EXPRESSION OF CD44 AND CD56 IN MALIGNANT SALIVARY GLAND TUMORS

Introduction: Salivary gland cancers impose a huge part in oral and maxillofacial pathologies. Mucoepidermoid (MEC) adenoid cystic carcinomas (ACC) are salivary malignancies, where being the most common cancer. CD44, is family of transmembrane non-kinase cell surface glycoproteins, that was broadly used as marker for cancer stem cells (CSCs) various malignancies. CD44 found to be overexpressed types including it has been postulated carcinogenesis. Natural killer (NK) one components innate immune system, which express phenotypic CD56 absence CD3, vital role tumor-cell surveillance. This study aimed assess expression different grades mucoepidermoid patterns carcinoma, correlate between expressions markers (CD44 CD56) tumors. Material &Methods: Thirty-three paraffin embedded blocks tumors (18 carcinoma 15 carcinoma) were selected. Those tumorswere classified into four groups: intermediate grade (IG) MEC, high (HG) ACC (tub-crib) (solid) patterns.Immunohistochemical staining performed. Data analyzed using SPSS (24), independent-T test Anova analyze statistical significance. Results: inMEC group, we no significant difference both expression, however, ACC. While CD56, statistically Conclusion:CD44 could promising goal therapy, mostly expressing cancers. NK have crucial anti-tumor mechanism. Moreover, more studies significantly demanded function diagnosis prognosis cancers, surveillance capacity cells.
